About us

Formed in 2004, we are a small chamber choir performing in and around Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. The name 'Dodecantus' is derived from two languages - 'dodeka' (Greek for 'twelve') and 'cantus' (Latin for 'singing').  There are not always twelve choir members singing but numbers are kept small to ensure the sound created is special and intimate at every performance.

Whilst our primary focus is to perform locally, we have also undertaken a programme of tours and performed at many European venues including Seville Cathedral, L'Abbaye de Fontenay and St. John's, Valetta, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We have also made a couple of recordings.  More recently, we have been regularly engaged to provide music for Choral Evensongs.

David Ripley - our Musical Director

David started with Dodecantus  in our bass section but was persuaded to conduct us for one concert and has not looked back since. Although not his main job, David brings a lot of musical experience and enthusiasm to Dodecantus.

Our accompanists

We do not have a rehearsal accompanist but are lucky to have a couple of great pianists amongst our members.

For concerts, we usually call upon the loyal services of Michael Reynolds to accompany us.
